Just an hour’s drive, depending on traffic, or a 45-minute train ride away from Pompeii is the coastal town of Sorrento. In Sorrento, time slows. It’s where every moment is an aesthetic image waiting to be posted. The town sits majestically on cliffs that overlook the azure waters of the Bay of Naples. At sunset, […]
If you are new here, I’ll get you up to speed. This day trip to Pompeii is part of a more extensive vacation where I tour Italy and Greece, also known as my Euro Summer 2 trip (#ES2). After spending a few days in Rome, it was time to head south to Pompeii. Remarkably preserved […]
After spending the afternoon walking around Rome, taking pictures, and sipping Bellinis while looking at the Pantheon, it was time to test my cooking skills. I don’t think I’m a good cook, I know I’m a great cook, but pasta-making was a little difficult. We attended InRome Cooking‘s three-hour class, and it was a very […]
If you haven’t scrolled through your feed and seen a Euro Summer takeover, I’m not sure what side of social media you are on. The last time I stepped off a plane in Europe was two years ago when I visited London, Paris, and Barcelona. That trip triggered a chain of events in my life […]
Can't get enough? Here's more 😏
Go ahead and queue up “Summer” by the Carters because when the water’s so blue (so blue, so blue), how can you be mad? Spending the day staring out at the horizon, swimming in turquoise waters, and taking selfies cured my self-doubt for the rest of the year.
Let me explain real quick: Koufonisia is the name of two small islands in the Cyclades: Ano and Kato Koufonisi. It is near Naxos, so the journey to these islands wasn’t too bad. Out of the two islands, only Ano Koufonisi is populated.
After a quick bus ride from the villa, we arrived at Agia Anna Port to board the Iason for a full day of sailing. In hindsight, I would have preferred not to spend an entire day on the boat, so next time, I will be booking something shorter. Regardless, it was a beautiful excursion and worth every penny. The crew was friendly, drinks and food were included, and music blasted non-stop as we sailed through the Aegean.
Before docking in Ano Koufonisi, we stopped at Kato to swim, eat lunch, drink wine, and soak up the sun. Not only does this make for great social media content, but swimming in the Medditterean is great for your skin, muscle relaxation, improving sleep, balancing your circadian rhythm, and curing respiratory issues. This had to have been the saltiest water I’ve ever swam in, but I did notice a change in my skin and overall mood.
For my thoughts on food in Greece and new dishes, I tried reading this blog post: Unpopular Opinion: Greek Food. While swimming, the crew offered up a delicious light BBQ lunch: pork kebabs, potato salad, tzatziki, and a roll, to be exact. I forgot to mention unlimited wine. The meat was tender, perfectly grilled, and seasoned with the best herbs. I had only wished there was more. Once on the island, I relaxed at Sofia’s Cafe with a glass of peach tea and a lemon sugar crepe while staring at the most beautiful view.
