Just an hour’s drive, depending on traffic, or a 45-minute train ride away from Pompeii is the coastal town of Sorrento. In Sorrento, time slows. It’s where every moment is an aesthetic image waiting to be posted. The town sits majestically on cliffs that overlook the azure waters of the Bay of Naples. At sunset, […]
If you are new here, I’ll get you up to speed. This day trip to Pompeii is part of a more extensive vacation where I tour Italy and Greece, also known as my Euro Summer 2 trip (#ES2). After spending a few days in Rome, it was time to head south to Pompeii. Remarkably preserved […]
After spending the afternoon walking around Rome, taking pictures, and sipping Bellinis while looking at the Pantheon, it was time to test my cooking skills. I don’t think I’m a good cook, I know I’m a great cook, but pasta-making was a little difficult. We attended InRome Cooking‘s three-hour class, and it was a very […]
If you haven’t scrolled through your feed and seen a Euro Summer takeover, I’m not sure what side of social media you are on. The last time I stepped off a plane in Europe was two years ago when I visited London, Paris, and Barcelona. That trip triggered a chain of events in my life […]
Can't get enough? Here's more 😏
This Euro Summer takeover was the girl’s trip I needed! My friend and I packed—actually, “stuffed” is more appropriate—our bags and toured Italy and Greece for two weeks. From Rome to Koufonisi and everywhere in between, this vacation owes me nothing—well, actually, a new suitcase. I’ll tell you about that later. Now, let’s sum up my time in Greece.
Visiting one of the world’s oldest cities was monumental. Athens is the birthplace of democracy, the arts, and philosophy- I mean, Plato was born here! I felt like I was in Hercules. However, landing in Greece from Rome was an ordeal. Unfortunately, the day we left Italy, Athens was experiencing the worst wildfires of the season, delaying flights into the country. According to the news, people were forced to flee their homes, and lives were sadly lost. Greece experiences wildfires every year, but due to climate change, they are becoming more frequent and intense.
Thankfully, after sitting on the tarmac for almost two hours, our flight was cleared for takeoff.
Wildfires In Athens

Once we checked into our hotel, it was time to explore the city. The air was still a little thick from the remnants of the wildfire, but we managed. Athens quickly became one of my favorite cities. I’m a city girl—not that type of city girl. I love bright lights, music, people, and, most importantly, food. It was later into the night, and the vibe was giving off the impression that the party had just started. Like in most European countries, the nightlife in Greece kicks off later and lasts till morning, true morning.
I spent the next few days getting better acquainted with the city and culture of Athens. By “better acquainted,” I mean shopping and talking to strangers. It reminded me of New York but with marble sidewalks. Graffiti was everywhere, clubs, stores, yellow taxis, and, you know, I had to try McDonald’s while there. Athens is a place of history, and the Acropolis and Panathenaic Stadium are tied to the significance of this city. I felt safe while being in Athens during the day and at night. I would visit again, but the Greek Islands are what captured my heart during this leg of the trip.

Now, if you’re looking for a more vacay-getaway type of feel, the Greek Islands are for you. Naxos is the largest island in the Greek Cyclades, and the scenery and nightlife did not disappoint. The sea views from my villa made me feel like I was in a movie. I spent most of my time in Naxos lounging by the pool, swimming, continuing my Limoncello Spritz run, and, of course, hitting another Rooftop spot.

We took a break from Naxos and sailed across the Aegean Sea to visit Koufonisia. When I thought Aruba had the bluest waters I had ever seen, boom, here comes Greece. We spent the day sailing, swimming in the Mediterranean, and exploring Ano and Kato Koufonisi. The Greeks have mastered the art of relaxation. I’ll touch more on the cultural and lifestyle differences in another post, but I highly recommend you take the time to go island hop while visiting Greece. Each island has its own vibe.
Explore Koufonisia with me for an up-close look into the islands.
I would consider Greece to be black-friendly. I never felt disrespected, and the people were very warm and welcoming. I would gladly give that country my hard-earned (black) dollars again. Everything I ate was flavorful, and Greece is a protein-focused country, so a lot of the cuisine features quality, SEASONED meats.
The weather was perfect—not too hot and with lots of shaded areas. When I tell you, you haven’t seen blue water until you’ve witnessed the Mediterranean Sea. I still can’t believe I climbed off the boat and swam in turquoise water. I want that for you, too, boo. So, keep reading my posts because I’m just getting started; take notes and plan your next trip to Greece. Tag me if you go; I want to see all the pics you take!
Oh, one more thing: don’t over-pack, you will regret it.
