After the wave of Cam Newton and Nick Cannon’s interviews, Dr. Cheyenne Bryant doubles down on her stance on familiar dysfunction in the Black family and explains how she defines “broken homes.” In this Breakfast Club interview, Dr. Bryant urges for a cultural shift and conversation between Black men and women about how we do […]

Just an hour’s drive, depending on traffic, or a 45-minute train ride away from Pompeii is the coastal town of Sorrento. In Sorrento, time slows. It’s where every moment is an aesthetic image waiting to be posted. The town sits majestically on cliffs that overlook the azure waters of the Bay of Naples. At sunset, […]
If you are new here, I’ll get you up to speed. This day trip to Pompeii is part of a more extensive vacation where I tour Italy and Greece, also known as my Euro Summer 2 trip (#ES2). After spending a few days in Rome, it was time to head south to Pompeii. Remarkably preserved […]
After spending the afternoon walking around Rome, taking pictures, and sipping Bellinis while looking at the Pantheon, it was time to test my cooking skills. I don’t think I’m a good cook, I know I’m a great cook, but pasta-making was a little difficult. We attended InRome Cooking‘s three-hour class, and it was a very […]
If you haven’t scrolled through your feed and seen a Euro Summer takeover, I’m not sure what side of social media you are on. The last time I stepped off a plane in Europe was two years ago when I visited London, Paris, and Barcelona. That trip triggered a chain of events in my life […]
Can't get enough? Here's more 😏
Me and European hotels have a love-hate relationship. So before I can give you an adequate breakdown of where I stayed while in Greece, I think it’s a good idea to tell you about some of the significant differences between your standard American hotel and a European hotel. I want you to enjoy your next trip across the pond and be prepared for what to expect because it can be a bit of a culture shock. Check out this blog post where I spilled tea on European hotels.
4.5-star hotel
My first hotel stay in Athens was better than expected after some of the rooms I experienced in Rome. This hotel was in the city center, making walking to the metro and the Acropolis Museum easy. It was cute and clean! Pop art was featured all over the space, and the beds were comfy despite their small size. I would stay here again. The staff was friendly and offered a variety of amenities. And yes, there was AC!
4-star hotel
While visiting Naxos and Koufonisia, we stayed in these super-fly villas. I couldn’t stop taking pictures. The pool and bar saw me a lot while relaxing on the island. Where the rooms lacked, the view, food, and breakfast bar made up for twice over. Europeans don’t do breakfast the way Americans do breakfast, but this hotel had me waking up extra early for breakfast and a good view. The beds weren’t the greatest, and there were strict rules about the plumbing 🙄. I will say it was like staying in a maze, making it very difficult to find your room after a lit night. So drink with caution.
4-star hotel
The vibes this hotel gave blew me away. The gold-luxe decor made everything feel very elevated. Located close to the U.S. Embassy and Hellenic Parliament, Ilisia Hotel Athens provides free continental breakfast, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a bar. The room had a balcony, but the view from my room was lackluster. The beds were comfier than the beds in the Villa, so that was another plus. If you do decide to stay here, be warned that there is only one elevator, and it’s small. But the hotel is located right next to a Starbucks, so a win is a win.
