Just an hour’s drive, depending on traffic, or a 45-minute train ride away from Pompeii is the coastal town of Sorrento. In Sorrento, time slows. It’s where every moment is an aesthetic image waiting to be posted. The town sits majestically on cliffs that overlook the azure waters of the Bay of Naples. At sunset, […]
If you are new here, I’ll get you up to speed. This day trip to Pompeii is part of a more extensive vacation where I tour Italy and Greece, also known as my Euro Summer 2 trip (#ES2). After spending a few days in Rome, it was time to head south to Pompeii. Remarkably preserved […]
After spending the afternoon walking around Rome, taking pictures, and sipping Bellinis while looking at the Pantheon, it was time to test my cooking skills. I don’t think I’m a good cook, I know I’m a great cook, but pasta-making was a little difficult. We attended InRome Cooking‘s three-hour class, and it was a very […]
If you haven’t scrolled through your feed and seen a Euro Summer takeover, I’m not sure what side of social media you are on. The last time I stepped off a plane in Europe was two years ago when I visited London, Paris, and Barcelona. That trip triggered a chain of events in my life […]
Can't get enough? Here's more 😏
Just an hour’s drive, depending on traffic, or a 45-minute train ride away from Pompeii is the coastal town of Sorrento. In Sorrento, time slows. It’s where every moment is an aesthetic image waiting to be posted. The town sits majestically on cliffs that overlook the azure waters of the Bay of Naples. At sunset, the sky transforms casting a glow of oranges, pink and purples over the piazzas. The essence of la dolce vita truly thrives in Southern Italy. Not to mention Sorrento is the birthplace of Limoncello 🍋, need I say more?
Meta Di Sorrento, meaning the border of Sorrento, looks like it was etched from the mountainside. As you approach the black sandy beach, the first thing that strikes you is the surprising beauty of the dark, volcanic sand against the blue water. I will never forget the sound of families gathering along the shore, laughter and shouts of joy mingling with chatter from a restaurant carved into the mountain. That moment made me understand “la dolce vita”, finding balance and being in the present.
I must confess, I never intended to be one of those travelers who visits Italy and lets gelato become the centerpiece of their identity. Yet, here I am, and proud. The Lemon Delight flavor from this gelato shop in Sorrento is nothing short of heavenly. Each velvety scoop bursts with a perfect balance of tangy lemon and sweet cream, reminiscent of sun-drenched citrus groves thriving along the Amalfi Coast. The refreshing taste left me craving for more. I couldn’t resist going back for seconds—not once, but twice! Exploring Sorrento, with its vibrant streets and breathtaking coastal views, only enhanced the experience. Each taste of that gelato felt like a celebration of the enchanting beauty surrounding me. This was a moment I will never forget.
